The Aqui Acolá Festival presents for the first time a Documentary Cinema Workshop. This is an opportunity for anyone interested in video and documentary cinema, one of the strong bets of this year's edition of the Festival.
This is a theoretical-practical work, taught by Professor Hugo de Almeida, which addresses, in addition to theoretical elements, image capture, the development of interviews and post-production - editing, sound, grading and rendering . The workshop admits a maximum of 10 participants.
Hugo de Almeida, as a director, started out in documentary cinema with a controversial academic project “Academia de Submissos”, in which he followed academic practices in higher education for 2 months. He specialized in audiovisual production in virtual worlds ( machinima ), where he produced the first Portuguese television program using this art. In this area, he saw his animated short “Labirinto” nominated for best digital short of the year at the Festroia festival and the short film “ BeyondMagic ” win the award for best film at the RezzableMachinima Festival. In 2010, he received the Merit Award in the "Web/Video" category, in the APCE 2010 Grand Prize - Excellence in Communication with the " World in Touch " project.
Over the years he has developed documentary productions for major brands in Portugal. In 2021 and 2022, he directed the 12 episodes of the documentary series “RBI - A Path to Freedom” (www.rbidoc.com), about the impact of the idea of unconditional basic income in our society.
